Been dealing with a knee problem for some time now, so
how do I deal with it? Well, I start squatting again??
As long as it feels like Im not doing any further damage,
why not? Keep it fairly light in the beginning, try to
strengthen surrounding tissue. Another example maybe
of using a counterintuitive approach to recovery. A few
years ago I was working toward another 500 squat, but
now I figured it just isnt in the cards anymore. I dont know.
We will see. Today I did 135 for 10 reps, then threw on
225, not really even planning on squatting at all. Did 6-8
easy reps with no pain in knee. Very odd. It hurts a bit now
though, resting. This hole in the wall gym Im going to
has shoddy equipment, and apparently shoddy patrons.
They seem very standoffish. Maybe it's just my aloof
nature and the general populous's reaction again. Never
rule that out!
Another highlight of today's workout was my BP. Did
275 for 6 reps, no need for a spot, last rep was fairly
tough but I knew I was good for it after 5. I need to
read up on escape plans for when one is training power-
lifting alone. I hate smith machines and doing bench
presses in a power cage... Dumbbells are fine, but I
fear I will break my wrists someday dumping them.
Dbs only go up to 100 in this silly gym (albeit the cheapest
I could find in town). Theyll be useless to me as a 4-6
rep exercise very soon. Did the 95s for 8 reps today.
Incidently, might have found a decent site, http://stronglifts.com/.
Looks like a lot of useful material there. But then it's
not like it was hard to find either. On the first page
googling, strength training.
